i also forgot to mention that since the new install the text on the screen and the screen resolution seems to be going a bit strange. Ive tried all the different settings like 800×600 and it doesnt help. maybe something to do with missing drivers?
Hey i recently came home and found that my computer wouldn’t boot up and got stuck on the screen before log in.

I refused to ask for help and pay money at PC world so after i few days i was able to get all my files from the harddrive and i did a clean install with a spare windows xp disk.

Since then ive found that i cant play games and my graphics card isnt showing up, i think the sound is messed up aswell. I used an xp disk thats not from my PC so it doesnt have the drivers and i didnt get a disk with my computer because xp was already installed

Can anybody give any suggestions on how i could get my drivers working again?

thanks

Hi,
I wanted to boot my pc but when the windows loader (horizontal scroll bar thing) starts i loads for 1 second and then it shows a blue screen with errors. I can’t see what is written on the error message because it only shows up for less than a half a second and then the pc reboots.
I tried using repair but it will not load either. The pc doesn’t do anything when a highlight that option and press enter.

I have not recently installed software or hardware. I did a few days ago unistall some programs but they were not windows programs. Just adobe software. But when i had uninstalled those i rebooted a few times and everything worked normally.

Please help ….
I don’t have a widows vista cd because the pc came preinstalled with vista. I rather not install a new os or format the drive because there are important files (and programs) on it.
Please could you tell me exactly the steps because i am not really a hard ware guy.
I’ve been able to make a picture of the bsod.

Update (beter image):
http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/3697/s6300308.jpg

I run a windows XP (SP2) desktop, it is about 2 years old.

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4400 @ 2.00GHz

So instead of reinstalling my windows, I used repair which just restores the system. After repair, my pc runs very fast, but after using it for a few days, it starts gradually slowing down until it reaches a point where even typing or moving my mouse is laggy. However, this only happens when im multitasking on my windows. If i end all the big processes (antivirus, downloading programs, MSN, etc.), then my computer runs normal again. Another thing i’d like to mention is when im watching a youtube video and I try to open a program, it lags insanely bad for a short amount of time. When I watch a video, even if its loaded, it still lags. I do not use my PC 24/7 but sometimes I leave it on, for downloads. My CPU usage is not necessarily high when my computer is lagging so its probably not a RAM problem. I also have over 50% of free disk space on all local disks.

My PC does not have any viruses, I use Rogers Online Protection, and i am not experiencing any other difficulties except for multitasking slowdown. I’ve tried many things already, I’ve tried to cancel windows updates, stop using anti-virus, I’ve checked all my running processes (searched them on internet) and they were fine, I’ve recorded all the running processes of when my pc was slow and i’ve checked them after repairing my windows. None of these solutions worked. Is this happening to anybody else? Is my PC too old? Could it be a hidden virus? Should I stop downloading and see what happens? Is this a case of software or hardware?

I don’t want to use my computer without being able to download and use the internet at the same time, or cancel antivirus. And I don’t want to repair it every few weeks/days. I am not a pro at these kind of things, so plzz help!

I have been running windows 7 for 3 weeks with no problems. Then a few days ago it slowed down for 5 minutes at a time to the point of almost freezing. Now it is basically not working.

I have a 1500 dollar home built pc from about 4 months ago so its not that my computer can’t handle it. I suspected it was a virus so I did a virus scan but nothing came up.

I now need to check the registry but what is the best windows7 compatible safe mode registry cleaner? I can only run safe mode as regular mode is broken.

xp still acting up?

i’m running xp home (unfortunately) and i actually have this problem on my laptop and my parents computer. i am not able to open up folders, ie my computer, control panel, etc. i’m also not able to open up IE or AIM or shut down via the start menu, i’ve got to hold the button down for a bit before it shuts down. i’ve defragged both computers a few days ago and just recently installed a registry cleaner. any thoughts? thanks
