What should I use to clean my computer with?

I need to clean the monitor.It is a 17" flat screen and was told not to use Windex or any chemical cleaners. Also need to clean the inside of the hard drive shell as well.I need to clean the fan/fans, and make sure everything is clean so my computer won’t have to work so hard to surf and etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

How can I clean my hard drive but keep some programs on it. I dn’t know how to back them up or save them on Cd?

I want to clean my Hard drive Because it is really full (Duh!). How can i do this but still keep some of the programs I’ved installed. Also How can Ifuse my hard drive since my brother seperated it by accident.

i’m looking to clean up my hard drive, its running a little slow. i noticed in the remove program file that theres about 6 java and j2se files all about 110 or bigger. Can I delete the older ones? THe Java 2,3,4 and keep the latest update? Any other suggestions would help.

Manually cleaning-up Windows XP #3?

I recently acquired my brother’s old laptop as he bought a new one, he has a lot of his old files & stuff on here, but doesn’t have the start-up disks. I could wipe out the hard drive but then I’d be stuck using Vista and if I’m as computer illiterate with Vista as I am with XP, then that’s a whole other can of worms.

Anyway, I’ve actually got two questions this time around.

1.) He has two folders marked as My Backup w/ the created date following them. I’ve tried to delete these files completely but to no avail. There is nothing in them that he needs that he doesn’t already have, so any advice on how to get rid of them in their entirety?

2.) What is this file: regedit cache.reg ?
Answer #1: The link you gave, the downloaded file doesn’t work.

Answer #2: I’ve already ran CCleaner.

I just need to know how to get rid of the backup folders & if it is safe to delete the regedit file.
