How do you clean up a Macintosh computer?

I am more used to PC’s and would like to know if there are files to clean off like on a PC…. (id heard they get placed in differant locations and just wondered how to maintain my Mac) im not proficient in macintosh but can get around one pretty well… just wanting to keep it working to its best ability. I have a G5 and no virus protection…(do macs need VP) thanks all!

Windows says my virus protection is out of date, but I downloaded it yesturday?

I first had avast antivirus but it said it was out of date and needed an update, so i tried to update it but it wouldn’t work.

So i downloaded avg(the free version) and my windows secruity thing pops up and says "your virus protection is out of date" RIGHT AFTER I DOWNLOADED IT.

I tried Windows Live One Care virus protection recently, but my trial just expired. I was wondering if there was a similar virus protection (one with real-time and automatic updates) that I could download for free or free to try. And if so where can I download it at? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Fake message service popups. For Registry cleaner?

Has anybody else heard of this? I recently upgraded to XP and during the process my Virus protection was turned off. Before i got it in place something slipped through. Now I keep getting these pop ups that say… Message service
Bla bla bla go to this website and it will clean these pop ups . When you go its trying to sell a program for a registry cleaner
How do I block this and remove these adds.
It looks like a scam to get me to give out my info ect. Help .
