About:blank is the default homepage on some web browsers and is nothing more than a blank page. You could type it into your address bar and it’d take you to the blank white screen. What is it for?
Mike: I kinda guessed at that already. Thanks for the confirmation. Now I guess I don’t need this anymore now that I know the answer for sure now.

about:blank doesn’t load any internet page, so it allows you to choose where to go, my homepage is http://www.google.co.uk and i have to wait for the page to load before I do anything. about:blank doesn’t need to load, so it allows you to move to whatever page you want.
It’s just an easy convenient fast loading page.
It requests nothing from the Internet, so you don’t need to wait for anything to load, and it wont ask you if you want to connect to the Internet automatically.
It is… the void of all web pages.
