I have Norton Anti-virus and I update it regularly. However whenever I perform a full system scan, it never finds anything other than a cookie or two, so I don’t see the point. I regularly delete all my browsers’ caches, files, cookies, etc, so I don’t see the need for the virus protection other than needing something to automatically start and slow my computer down when I don’t want it to.

Question I guess is, do I actually need the virus protection?

I REALLY need to get some virus protection (anti-virus software) and I’m willing to spend some extra money to get it. What kind of (non-free) virus protection do you think is the best you can buy?

Thanks!

I have just bought a laptop, but the anti-virus protection that comes with the laptop is only temporary and will expire soon, I have to pay to extend it.

However I have seen so many free anti-virus protection, I don’t know which one to go for.

Thanks in advance for your help

I have had computers for the last 10 years and never used virus protection software. I do use a firewall, but I prefer hardware ones, as stuff like zonealarm just doesn’t work. And as of yet, I have never had a virus/worm/trojan which threatened the data on my PC.

PC World makes out that without McAffee or Norton, you WILL get a virus as SOON as you switch your modem on.

Virus Protection?

We are a small firm, 10 seats, and currently use Norton Anti-Virus and are sick of it. Problems with existing applications and an administrative nightmare. What are the other options? What do other people use for virus protection? I looked at mcafee and it was even worse. What do the big boys use for virus protection? Thanks.
