I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop that’s about 2.5 years old. It has a 60GB hard drive, Mobile AMD Sempron Processor 3500+ 1.79 GHz, 448 MB of RAM.

Last week my laptop just started to lag when I type, like it takes anywhere between 1-5 seconds for the thigs I type to show up on the screen. This includes word processing, chatting, internet explorer, etc. Around the same time I also noticed that my laptop was taking 5-10 minutes to notice when I plugged things into my USB drive like my mouse, digital camera, or webcam. Since then, here are all the things I’ve tried to correct the problem.
-Do a system restore to a time a few weeks ago before the priblem began.
-Ran avast free antivirus software
-Ran antivir free anitvirus software
-Ran tweaknow registry cleaner
-Ran superantispyware free edition
-Ran malwarebytes anti-malware free edition
-Defragmented the hard drive
-Checked the C drive for errors using windows
-Deleted my temporary internet files
-Tried to free up space on my hard drive using the windows tools
-Went through the control panel and uninstalled any software I don’t use
-Went to the task manager and saw what was running and googled anything that looked suspicious, but I’m not very computer savvy so I’m not sure how successful this was.

I’m a medical student and this makes it VERY hard to take notes on PowerPoint during lecture. Everything is functional, but very slow and annoying.

I have been suggested to use ccleaner or reg cure

I like C-Cleaner but now you have to pay for it…I was laid off so I can’t afford to buy it right now but I need my computer to find another job and the computer is giving me grief. Would like to find a free anti-virus too, since now AVG has gone totally capitalistic…
When I go the C-Cleaner website and hit the free download button, it redirects me to a page where I have to hit a PayPal button…

Ok this is starting to get really annoying. I do not understand why my computer is so slow. I have used Disk Clean Up and Disk Defragmenter after it was done scanning my computer it was still slow. I have used some programs to get rid of unnecessary files. The free programs I have used are Ccleaner and Glary Utilities it scanned my whole computer and it was still slow. Then I bought 2 programs that are called Registry Booster and Registry Fix 7, and these are not freeware, I scanned my whole computer and it was still slow. So then I started to suspect I had a virus, so I went out to buy ann anti-virus, it was called Avast Internet Security 2009. I had many viruses so then Avast took care of every single virus. But still my computer is slow what could possibly be the problem? I have many programs installed on my computer, and it was working fine and it was fast, then at some point my computer got slow, can someone PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!

is there any way i could get ahold of a registry cleaner that could either find unused registries (possibly give me a date of when htey were last used) or to find known unwanted registries( virus registries etc.) it would be greatly appreciated
