restore xp registry manually?

i think i have a virus in my pc as all my restore points are gone. how can i manually restore the reg or fix a corrupted reg if there are no available restoration points.can i save it somewhere other than c drive as most virus attacks that drive.

I have dell insipiron 1545 laptop wid windows vista home edition, its not starting, I have installed partion magic software for making my only c drive to partition then when i tried to partition its not partitioned so i tried to remove the software in the control panel and after that it suddenly says ur system has incurred a problem & now when i am starting it says windows error recovery wid 2 options – Launch startup repair(recommended) & start windows normally when i click start windows normally its not starting and when i click Launch startup repair(recommended) then its saying select o.s. to repair and no o.s. is showing in the system recovery options so i clicked load drivers where it says "insert the installation media for the device & click ok to select the drivers" when i click ok then all drivers folders is showing emtpty not matching the setup information, I dont knw how to fix this Could u help me how to start my os and get back my previous data or how to start it in safe mode. Any solutions. plz help me guys.

Can anyone help me how to start my dell insipiron 1545 laptop in safe mode or in command prompt? Is there any way to solve it Please help

my computer restarts when i try accessing registry. there is also no turn off button now. I use XP Pro. Help?

I think i ve a virus that adds a .exe extension to files. I try to access the registry but then it restarts, can’t access msconfig either, can’t install any thing as it closes every window anytime one opens. Am at a loss bcoz I have data on the drive and I can’t format the whole disk, the virus lauches when i access the d partition. Please if i could know which virus this is and which antivirus can actually clean the files even if to delete them. I can I wipe the c drive and reinstall windows; but then i will need an antivirus that will eliminate the virus from the D drive. That is if there is no other way around it.

There are three different names on this computer I only use the same name to enter. How do I bring up all the traffic on C drive that I have visit and clean up my trail premantly. I have Disk Ceanup install. How do I bring up all the sites I have visit and clean up unwanted one for good?

is it bad that ive used ccleaner many times to clean out the registry and never chose to back it up?

my computer is running ok it seems except for the fact i cant defrag just now because my c drive is saying its full and theres not enough space to use the defrag program , so now im having a hard time wondering what files i should delete on my c drive.

i keep using c cleaner to clean the registry but ive never backed anything up, my computer continues to operate ok, could i have done anything harmful to the computer ? would i know if i had ?

alsoo a user said this in my last question in response to not being able to defrag my c drive :

” There is a thing where you can buy in stores and you plug it into your computer and stor everything on it. Then delete the things on your computer you can take it where ever you go and have your work ”

has anyone heard of a gadget like hes describing ?

my operating system is windows xp btw, i cant afford vista right now.
