When I first turn on my laptop (HP Pavilion dv2000), it loads and when it is about to go to the desktop it stays blank for like a minute, then it resumes. Anyone know how to fix this?

I restarted and kept hitting f10 which I thought was how you start the recovery partition. I followed all the steps and when I rebooted all the old files were here, plus a lot of junk that came with the computer when I first bought it. I wanted the computer to run like new but now it’s even slower than before I "reformatted" it.

How do I wipe my HP computer clean of all its files and start over?

I would like to restore my pc back to before a point where HP Advisor was present as it has now disappeared.

I have a HP Pavillion DV8000T notebook that i purchased from HP directly. The notebook is 13 months old and out of warranty. My hard drive failed and I will need to have it replaced. This is the second time my hard drive has failed (previous instance was during the warranty period) My options are:
(1) Use HP and pay 0 – this includes a new hard drive and installation of MS Windows XP Media edition. It comes with only 90 day warranty.
(2) Buy the hard drive myself – I have Windows XP software. I would have my office IT desk install the hard drive and the Operating System. Cost 0.
My Concern is:Will I be able to get all the drivers that I need to get the most of my machine. This is a high end machine but I am extremely disappointed with HP service. There is only a 90 day warranty on a 0 repair which represents over 33% of what I paid for the entire machine. Since the hard drive has failed twice already-I figure if it fails again, I will buy new notebook.

My laptop will not boot up and it keeps saying strings not recognized.I got the computer free and if its gonna be expensive I would like to know how much but if I can hook it up to my desktop or download software that would be better because I have no car or any body reliable to ask for a ride. It’s an HP Pavilion zt1000.
