What is a good virus protection program?

I need just about the best virus protection program there is? any recommendation? I have used Norton in the past and most recently used EZ Armor and was not happy with the EZ Armor at all. so now I am looking for something else. Please help me so my computer doesnt get infected. Thanks!

What is the best anti-virus, anti-spyware and Registry Cleaner program on the market?

I have no anti-virus/ anti-spyware programs on my computer whatsoever. I need the absolute best anti-virus/ anti-spyware and Registry Cleaner Programs Available, that are UNDER each, and it has to be in the market(Staples, Home Depot, etc.) NOT on the internet. Oh and I don’t want the programs to slow down my computer too much like Norton/ McAfee. The reason why I don’t want to get the free anti-virus/ anti-spyware programs is because I know that they don’t get rid of all malicious files.
I do have a free registry cleaner(Ccleaner) but I don’t mind paying for a better one(as long as it’s under ).
If u could give me anything else that could improve my security(like firewall anti-malware), and as long as it’s under , that would be great :D. Thanks 4 your help

Help Problem with system32\rootkit\……?

I can not get ride of rootkit pop up ,I know it is sort of virus or spyware
but According to Norton ,and Microsoft I have to scan , It will not let my Norton to scan, also tried some of those Malware or Registry cleaning programs either they do not work or they are not effective ,any IDEA ??please help
my operating system in Windows VISTA

Need to defragment and clean up my temp files on windows XP because my comp has begun to run slowly.?

I could pay to Norton for software to do this, but it seems as though I could just do this myself very easily with some direction. Best answer gets chosen based on ease/success of the answer.
I guess I should note that I already have killer antivirus/firewall/protective software. What I’m looking for is a way to clean out my temporary files and defragment the thing since I’m a you tube junkie.

How do you get about: blank to stop trying to change your home page?

For some reason every time I sign on I get a message from Norton that they have stopped someone from changing my home page. When I check details it is something called "about: blank". I have tried removing my temporary internet files and running a spyware search and it still comes up every time I sign on again. Does anyone know how to get rid of this about: blank for good?
