I’m looking for a registry cleaner where I can manually select keys by software vendor for Windows XP. A program called RegCleaner did it for me, but since I have a new pc (also runs XP) it doesn’t work for me.

Now most registry cleaners will scan automatically, but they are quite useless and dangerous to use. Are there any other registry cleaners out there that don’t scan / delete anything automatically but make it easier for me to identify the keys I want to throw out?

Good tip, but I really need one that will clear out the registry keys per software vendor. This one only scans for issues.

yahoo search gone bad?

Whats up with yahoo search ? Everytime I enter anything into the web search box it comes back with internet explorer cant display the web page. Does the same thing with firefox.Ive tried everything I can think of checking firewalls , malware , virus, cleaning out my temp internet files and registry cleaner. Google still works fine. Any one else having this problem?

I saw the new “Aro 5” Registry Cleaner advertised today.
The free edition, like many others, offers to scan and fix 20 errors.

It scanned and found 1040 errors.

So what in a Registry is worth fixing, and what is just collected “junk”?

The choices are:
Active X and COM
Application Paths
File Types
Help Files
History Lists
Shared Files
Shortcuts
Software
Sounds
Start Menu
Deep Scan
Current User

Are any of these cleaners actually worth their weight?
Thanks!

I use AVG internet security already which is quite comprehensive, has anti virus, firewall,, anti spyware etc etc. but are they any other programs you would recommend?

Ie a registry cleaner, a trojan remove etc etc?

I want to know your answers for each one, fos antivirus i use Mcafee enterprise edition, for spyware cleaner i use Ad-Aware SE Pro and for registy cleaner i use Privacy and Registry Cleaner… the best answer will get 10 points!
